Online consultation on the future of the “Europe for Citizens” programme Deutsch Francais
In preparation of the next generation of the Europe for Citizens programme as of 2014, the European commission has launched an online consultation. Until 5 November 2011, European citizens, public and private institutions, administrative authorities and ministries may present their thoughts and ideas for the next part of the programme after 2013, especially concerning objectives, preparation mechanisms, themes and different kinds of support.

The current programme (2007-2013) aims to promote active citizenship and to reinforce the feeling of belonging to the European Union, to improve mutual tolerance and comprehension and to encourage the emergence of a European identity.

The programme is implemented in four ways :
- “Active citizens for Europe” : town twinnings, citizens’ projects and support measures ;
- An “Active civil society in Europe” : structural support for think tanks and civil society organisations operating at the European level ; support for projects initiated by civil society organisations ;
- “Together for Europe” : events with a high degree of public visibility, surveys and information and dissemination tools ;
- “A European Active Memory” : protection of the main sites and archives relating to the deportations and commemoration of all victims of Nazism and Stalinism.

The programme budget for 2007-2013 amounts to 215 million euros.
