EURODISTRICT delegation in North Silesia Francais Deutsch
Due to an already existing partnership between the EURODISTRICT and the Voivodship of Silesia, EURODISTRICT delegates were able to form ties with Euroregions Glacensis (Czech Republic and Poland) and Nysa (Czech Republic, Germany and Poland) at a workshop in Wroclaw (3 June 2009).

As part of a workshop on cross-border cooperation and Euroregions, the EURODISTRICT general director, Patrice HARSTER, held a presentation on the EURODISTRICT’s legal structure and its functionality in a cross-border setting. The Polish partners are very interested in the EGTC (European grouping for territorial cooperation) introduced recently to Polish legislation.

From the beginning, the Euroregions have been working according to the principle of separate organs and within a framework of project politics aiming for “mirror image” projects. Although the EGTC as sole controlling body strikes them as an attractive solution, they can’t imagine uniting their approach long-term. During the course of the year and the reception of Polish delegates in Alsace next year, both sides intend to continue these exchanges based on a reciprocity agreement between the Région Alsace and the Voivodship of North Silesia.
